A Fighting Game Project
"Let's Throw Stones" is my take on the 2D fighting games I grew up loving. For a university project, I set out to build the core engine from scratch, focusing on what makes the genre feel great: responsive controls, satisfying hits, and smart mechanics that create cool moments. This is the first step in what I hope will be a long-term passion project.
Right now, the game features a complete match structure, from character select all the way to a "Best of 3" finish. I've built in some fun mechanics like a Super move that freezes the screen and launches a projectile, and a defensive Burst that lets the opponent turn the tables with a counter-attack. Everything you see was built in Unity, and I'm excited to keep building on.
I’m Michael, and I'm the developer behind this project. I've always loved fighting games, and "Let's Throw Stones" is my passion project and a way for me to really learn what makes them tick. For my university final, I took the opportunity to build the game's core engine from the ground up.
This meant coding everything: the feel of the character movement, the physics of getting hit, the logic for the super meters, and the system that directs the whole match. It was an incredible learning experience. I'm proud of this beta, and I'm excited to keep adding new characters, stages, and ideas to the game in the future. Thanks for checking it out!
